The name Svitozar has an interesting history and cultural significance. In the 19th century, some cultural figures, such as M. Dragomanov, used the pseudonym Svitozar. This personal name and its phonetic counterparts have a long tradition of use among South Slavic peoples. In the 1970s, the masculine name Svitozar was revived in the city of Khmelnytskyi. The affectionate form "Svitozarko" has only been recorded among the Hutsuls.
