The name Bozhar is no longer present among contemporary Ukrainian names, but mentions of it are preserved in the surnames of Transcarpathian Ukrainians from past centuries. For example, the modern surname Bozhar can be found in the Mizhhiria and Mukachevo regions. A known patronymic from 1686 is Bozsaru Mikita from the village of Sil. In 1570, Lazar Bossarowich is mentioned in N. Vorota. Today, the name Bozhar, as well as Bozhan, Bozhen, Bozidar, Bozymir, and Bozenko, is common in Croatia.
