For example, in a record from 1497, it is noted as Nobilis Johannis Biała s z Golsk.The antiquity of the name Bilash is confirmed by records of place names in Right-bank Ukraine, particularly in Volhynia, that existed in the 15th–16th centuries, such as the village of Belashiv and Belashiv. Additionally, significant are the patronymic surnames recorded among the Cossacks of the Poltava Regiment in 1649, such as Maksym and Prokip Bilashenko, Cossack Marko Bilashenko from the Korsun Regiment, Cossack Hryts Bilashenko from the Pereiaslav Regiment, and others.
