Name «Zahon»

The personal name Zahon on the territory of Ukraine is first mentioned in the village of Kobyletska Polyana in 1550. At that time, a nobleman named Vittus Zahon was recorded. However, the toponym Zahon, along with a list of castle serfs (Zadur, Petro, Dedo, and others), is mentioned as early as 1221 in the Boršod county. Additionally, one can mention the Slavic name of the Hungarian railway junction located on the Tisza River, opposite the Ukrainian town of Chop.
