The name "Vovkosh" originates from the village of Vovkosh, located in the Rivne region and known since the 19th century. This name, similar to the Polish name "Wilkosz," is derived from the anthroponym "вълкъ," which means 'wolf,' through the attributive suffix "-ot." It is also noted that "Wolf's Tail" was a certain title for the voivodes Volodymyr Sviatoslavych and Sviatopolk Yaropolkovych in the 10th century. This two-word naming served not only a nominative function but also a descriptive function concerning the object of naming.
