Name «Volokh»

In the Middle Ages, additional distinguishing marks in proper names were sometimes represented by ethnonyms and adjectives derived from them. For example, in 1436, a serf from the village of Bedevlya in Transcarpathia was recorded as Paulus Pap Volochus. In 1378, there is a record of Voloshin Ladomyr, a servant of Vladislav. In the Ukrainian Carpathians, Romanians have been referred to as "Volokhs" not only in ancient times but also to this day.
