The name 'Voityk' is a newer formation with the suffix -ik from the Slavic male name Voit. At the beginning of the 17th century, this name was already functioning as a surname in Ukrainian villages of Eastern Slovakia. For example, in a record from 1618, it is noted: serf Andriy Voityk from the village of Lypova. In 1671, a patronymic naming of deacon Petro Voitykovych from the village of Bobovyshche was already recorded in the Mukachevo region.
