The name "Udoba" may have phonetic changes related to the root morpheme "Khodoba," which could have occurred in Polish or Hungarian environments. In our records, there is only one documented instance of this name, noted in 1499: "zaplatilъ synom Zhourdža Oudoba" — from Suceava. There are also entries from the 15th century: for example, in 1446 "Dedimus Chudobie II grossos" and in 1459 "Hannos Chudobka." Compare this with the entry for a related name from 1629 — "Chudosław."
