The naming of the prince Terp' Mak-sak' is already recorded in 1388 in the city of Luchytsia. Names with the root "Tерп-" are widespread among Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes. Examples of such names include Trpimir, Trpko, and Trpomir. Among the Rusyns, there existed the name Terpyhor', and later the nickname and surname Terpylo appeared. In Transcarpathia, since the 17th century, the shortened surname Terpak became popular. In 1751, a record was made of a serf named Alexander Terpak from the village of Dravtsi. Additionally, in the village of Baranyntsi, a serf named Tirpak Joannes was mentioned in 1773. Bulgarians also use wishful names such as Trŭpko, Trŭpcho, and Tŭrpo, which convey the wish "may he endure, but may he live!"
