Stanylo is a name that originated from the shortened masculine name Stan. The oldest record of this name dates back to 1223: "Mykiforъ prirōkomъ Stanylo" - Metropolitan of Volodymyr-Volynskyi. In 1482, the name is mentioned as Stanyło. The names Stanil and Stapel were also used in Belarus in the 15th and 17th centuries. Among Serbs and Poles, the name Stanylo is documented from the 12th to the 14th century, and as a colloquial form, it is still used by Croatians today.
