Name «Smereka»

The name "Smereka" likely derives from the name of the evergreen coniferous tree, spruce. In our records, this name is documented only once: in 1556, in a book purchased in Stryi, which is now stored in the library of UzhNU, the mention occurs of "Smereka Kostev syn" (Yavor 198).
