The personal name "Shchybor," which also has the variant "Shtybor," is a result of the regular phonetic evolution of the Proto-Slavic name *Ćstiborb. This name is recorded in historical sources, notably in 1488, where "the sons of the old Shchybor" are mentioned in the city of Suceava. Although this name has never been popular in Ukraine, in the 16th century, toponyms began to be formed from it, such as the name of the village "Scziborowicze," which is referenced in purchase agreements from 1524 and 1542.
