Name «Pliuta»

The name Pliuta comes from the word "pluta," which means 'windy weather with precipitation' (Gr III 126). In Ukrainian texts, the anthroponym Pliuta is mentioned since 1565: Chwedor Pluta (OKZR III 155). In Polish-Latin sources, the anthroponym Iacobus Plutha is mentioned as early as 1445 (SSNO IV 289).
