Name «Odud»

The name Odud originates from the name of a forest bird — the hoopoe (Ukrainian Language Dictionary, Volume V, page 642). In Ukrainian written texts, it has only been recorded at a stage when the lexeme "Odud" was used to clarify the personal name Hryhoriy. For example, in the years 1572 - 1575, there is a record of a serf named Hryhoriy Odud from the village of Bychky (Belay 128).
