Name «Niniul»

The name 'Niniul' is likely derived from the diminutive suffix -ul, which in Bulgarian pertains to the calendar name Nikola. However, it may also have originated from some Slavic bipartite name, for instance, Ninoslav. Evidence supporting this assumption can be found in the patronymic records from 1413 and 1421, specifically the mention of a certain Prokop Nyanevich, unless this record is related to the Transcarpathian dialect "nyanyo," which means 'dad.' Examples of the use of the name 'Niniul' in Ukrainian documents are quite scarce. For instance, in 1497, a variant spelling of the name 'Nyenolъ' and 'Niniulu' was recorded.
