The name "Nimets" has a nickname character and originates from the ethnonym "Nimets." Since the 14th century, this word has been used as a personal name, particularly in Poland. For example, in a document from 1434, individuals are mentioned: "Stanislaw et Nyemyecz kmetones, Andreas dictus Nemecz et al." (SSNO IV/145), as well as in Slovenia (Merku 453).A circumstantial piece of evidence that the ethnonym "Nimets" indeed served as a personal name is that it stands in the same syntactical row as the names "Vasko" and "Nahuat." For instance, in 1491, in the city of Lutsk, there are mentions of gentlemen: "Vasko, Nimets, and Nahuat" (SSUM II 61). Alongside it, the patronymic "Nemtsevich" also appears. The document states: "they were asked about Onrdec Nemtsevich and Vasko Nahuatovich" (ibid).
