Name «Naslav»

The name 'Naslav' likely has Proto-Slavic origins. It arose from the partial contraction of the prepositional component of the two-root name Na(čya)sav. In the territory of Ukraine, the name has been recorded since the 12th century. For example, in 1125, a Naslavъ is mentioned, who was the tythun of Grand Prince Mstislav Volodymyrovych. The name Nasław appears in various forms, such as Nazlau, Naslav, and Nazlaus, in old Polish written sources from the 12th to 15th centuries and in old Czech texts. In Moldova, the toponym Naslavcha has been recorded. One example is the mention in 1437 of a village on Naslavchiu mill in the city of Suceava.
