Name «Mytsko»

The name Mytsko may be a diminutive and affectionate variant of the colloquial name Mytsia, which in folk dialects means "chubby-cheeked child" (Gr II 241). In other contexts, this name serves as a Ukrainian Carpathian affectionate term for a cat – mytsia, mytska (Gr II 421; On I 441-442). Historical sources mention, in particular, Cossacks from the Kalnytskyi regiment: Mytsko Nysterenko (RVZ 266) and Mytsko Prokop (RVZ 269).
