Miloslav is a Slavic personal name formed by combining the adjective root "Milo-" (meaning "dear" or "beloved") and the noun root "slav" (related to "glory"). This name is modern and актуальним for Ukrainians. In Transcarpathia, it began to be used in the early post-war years under the influence of the languages of neighboring Slavic nations. A similar situation is observed among Ukrainians in Prešov. In the city of Lutsk, the male name Miloslav began to be given to children from the early 20th century. In Ukraine and Belarus, the name and its derivatives have been in use since the 15th century, particularly in the form of toponyms "Miloslavichi." Among Poles, the name Miłosław has an unbroken tradition of use since the 12th century, and among Serbs, this tradition is documented from the 14th century. Despite this, the Orthodox and Catholic churches have not yet canonized the name Miloslav.
