The name Mamon is mentioned twice in the registers of the Zaporizhian Army from 1649. The first is the Cossack Ivanenko Mamon from the Nizhyn Regiment (RVZ 469), and the second is the Cossack Zazhalovych Mamon from the Kyiv Regiment (RVZ 296). The root of this name resembles the kinship term "mama," however, the origin of the name remains unclear.
