Name «Liudmyl»

Lyudmil is a Slavic male name composed of the components "Lyud-" (meaning "people, crowd") and the adjective "-mil" (meaning "dear, beloved").

Medieval written sources of the Ukrainian language have only documented the feminine name Lyudmyla. However, Eastern Slavic and Bulgarian name dictionaries also recommend using the masculine variant – Lyudmil.

Interestingly, the Polish name dictionary provides the Latin equivalent for the feminine name Lyudmyla, which is Lidmil.
