Dictionary meaning
This is a new Slavic name formation with the hypocoristic suffix -ina from the base name Liuba. In addition to the Ukrainian and Belarusian languages (Sudnik 53), the name Liubyna is also used in South Slavic languages today (Ilchev 310; Grk 273; Śim 202). However, the VIL presents the name Liubyna only as an optional variant of the feminine name Liubov (VIL 154; see also Ostash 61).
