Name «Lastomyr»

The name Lastomyr originates from the toponym Lastomir, which was first mentioned in the Zemplin County in eastern Slovakia as early as 1332. This name is also confirmed by the Serbo-Croatian bi-root name Lastimir. Lastomyr is a phonetic variation of the name Vlastimir. The prepositional component of this name comes from the verbal root "vlastiti," which means "to own" or "to govern." According to M. Maitan, the ancient Slavic name Lastomyr later transformed into Lastomer, just as Ladomir became Radomir, and Latibor became Ratibor.
