The name "Krych" is an ancient possessive adjective derived from the personal name "Kryk." In it, the final consonant of the root /k/ underwent palatalization before the suffix *-ь and changed to /ch/. For example, in records from the 14th century, one can find the phrase: "zapysalъ yesmь...chelovѣka na imya Krѣchju" (Grammar of the 14th century, p. 149, 206). The anthroponymic base "Krych-" is also preserved in the Transcarpathian toponym (name of the locality) Krychovo, located in the Tyachiv district. This village is mentioned as far back as the 14th century (Déje, p. 259). The oldest mention of the name "Krych" in Latin script dates back to 1220 and is recorded in the basin of the great Tisa River. For example, in 1220 it is noted: "Crisiusportato ferro, combustus est" — the village of Petrovo near the village of Mandok, Ugocsa County (RegVar, p. 246). Later, in 1375, the lexeme "Krych" is used as a surname in relation to the personal name Stanislav in the Transcarpathian village Krychovo. A nobleman named Jo. Crich Stanislaus is mentioned (Belay, p. 170).
