Name «Khots»

The name "Khots" is a shortened variant of some bi-root names, such as Khotimir or Khotislav, which originate from the Polish language. In these names, there is an assimilation where the sound "t" transforms into "ts". Examples of similar names include Polish "Chociebor," "Chociemir," "Chocsław," and so on (research by Mai Bud 157). The only illustration of this name in our records is the entry of the anthroponym "Khots Mykhnenia," which appears in 1620 in the village of Novychi (source: VKO 320).
