Name «Kanytsar»

The name "Kanytsar" is mentioned in the context of a Rus' envoy from Predslava in 945 (PSRL I 46). The origin of this name is not established. However, the initial part "Kani-" resembles other dual-base names such as Kanibor, Kani-mil, Kani-mir (Mal Bud 90).
