Horiasir is the name under which the warrior of Sviatoslav Yaroslavich appeared in 1015, known as the killer of Hleb Volodymyrovich. The etymology of this name remains a subject of discussion. If we accept the Slavic version, the prefix can be interpreted as the verbal element "Hor-", which means "to burn." However, the postpositional part of the compound remains unclear, and it is difficult to assume that the base "sir" means "gray." B. Struminsky believes that certain Belarusian characteristics can be identified in the names Horiasir and Bryanyslav.
