The name Goran, as well as its derivative Hora, has several etymological interpretations. According to V. Karadzich, Southern Slavs would give this name to a child born in the mountains. The name Goran is represented in most Slavic languages. For example, documents mention Rѣdъ Goranovъ and Goran Popovich from the village of Glinnyky. There are also East Slavic anthroponyms such as Gorash, Goryn, Gorivoy, Gorislav, and others, but today the name Goran is primarily used by South Slavic peoples.
