The ancient Slavic name Hodo is related to two-base names such as Hodeslav, Hodivoy, which are still used as parallel variants with the names Hodo, Hodyo, Hode, Hojо in Bulgaria and Serbia (Ilchev 136; Grk 65). The anthroponym Hodyo is preserved in modern Transcarpathian surnames. For example, in 1510, the anthroponym Nado was mentioned from the village of Trosnyk (Sabo 3 72); in 1597, a serf named Hagyo was recorded from the village of Getenya (Sabo 3 72); in 1605, Vulasin (!) Nodia from the village of Dibróva (Belay 120), and other examples.
