Name «Halko»

The name 'Halko' is likely a suffix formation from the name 'Hal'. References to this name can be found in historical sources, notably in 1549, where 'Halko' is mentioned (ASO 206), and in 1645, when 'Halko Filow' appears (Balzer 109). There are also known instances of this name being held by Cossacks: in 1649, a Cossack from the Poltava regiment named Halko Sапчєнко (RVZ 407) and a Cossack from the Korsun regiment named Petro Halko (RVZ 134).
