Dushka is a Slavic truncated-suffix formation from the masculine name Dushko or a truncated-suffix counterpart of the ancient two-root name Dukhoslava. Today, the name Dushka, like Dusha, Dushana, or Dushanka, is not particularly popular, but it is used in many Slavic languages as a name with an intimate connotation. In some regions of Ukraine, particularly in Transcarpathia, the feminine name Dushka is perceived as a variant of the name Magdalina, essentially as a truncated counterpart of the colloquial variant of the name Magdusha.
