Name «Dubravka»

The personal name Dubravka was popular among Serbs, and it apparently penetrated into Ukrainians and Rusyns in Serbia in the 20th century. For example, a high school student in the city of Šid was named Seman Dubravka in 1966 (Mudri - Salamon 261). It is believed that the name derives from the Serbian appellative "dubrava," which means "forest" (Grk 84). The feminine name Dubravka was also widespread in Old Czech (Pleskalovä 45). In Eastern Slovakia, a Ukrainian village named Dubrava is mentioned as early as 1548 (Krajez. Slovn. 423).
