Name «Dragot»

Dragot is a rare Slavic name of Balkan origin that was used among Ukrainians until the 16th century. It is derived, like several other aforementioned names, from the South Slavic non-full vocalized variant of the adjective "drag," which means "dear," "beloved," or "precious," using the suffix -ot. Examples of usage include: in 1481, it was recorded: "Pan Trikolich writes to my lady... and brother Dragot Tămșanoul," referring to the village of Torgovishche; in 1499: "Kostin's daughter and that Nastya's son Dragot sold..." referring to the city of Suceava.
