Name «Dorohosym»

The personal name "Dorohosym" is embedded in the two-part name of the village of Drahocimiv (Dragosimow) in the Snyatyn District of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, which is first mentioned in 1560-1564, as well as in an incomplete vocal form recorded in 1579 (Drahosimow). The prepositional part of the variant Drahosimow indicates a complex foreign nature of the adjective "more expensive," hinting at a South Slavic, Czech, or Slovak incomplete vocal name "Drag." The etymology of the postpositional component -sym or -syn is ambiguous.
