The ancient Slavic dual-root name Domarat is mentioned in the monuments of the Ukrainian language from the 15th to 16th centuries. An example is the record from 1427: Domorath. All entries originate from Western Ukraine. For instance, in 1415, the name is recorded as "Домарать" in the document of Voinytsky from the village of Lanchytsia, as well as in the entry "Домарать" from Kobylanka in the town of Medyka. In 1594, Andrii Domarat is mentioned. The earliest Polish records of the name Domarat, which also appear in the forms Domorat and Domoratus, date back to the 15th century. The name Domarat is derived from the root "Dom-" in the Proto-Slavic form of the singular locative case "дома" (meaning "house") and the verbal root "ратити," which means "to fight." It is possible that the spelling of the name was influenced by the voiceless pronunciation of the final phoneme "d."
