The Slavic name Dobrylo is documented in Rus as early as 1164: Konstantin, son of Dobrylo. In 1552, Dobrylo Zubar was mentioned in Chornobyl. Apart from Eastern Slavs, the name Dobrylo and its variant Dobryl are also used by Southern Slavs, including Bulgarians, Macedonians, and Croats. Among Serbs, the name Dobrylo and the patronymic Dobrylovich have been known since the 14th century. Like the names Hostylo, Radilo, and Stachylo, the name Dobrylo is formed using the augmentative suffix -ilo.
