The name Dobromir has ancient Slavic origins and consists of two roots: "dobry" (adjective) meaning "good" and "mir" (noun) meaning "peace" or "world." This name is attested in many ancient and modern Slavic languages, including Serbian, Croatian, Macedonian, Bulgarian, and Czech. The earliest known records of the name in Ukraine come from the Tisza River basin, specifically from the village of Borgid, Sátnar County, dating back to 1399, when a serf named Dobramer was recorded. In 1429, there are also mentions of the hydronym Dobromir in southern Bukovina: a stream called Dobromira and a mountain named Dobromira, near the city of Suceava. It is also worth noting that in 1649, there was a Cossack from the Poltava Regiment with the surname Onisko Dobromirsky.
