Name «Dobrash»

The name 'Dobrash' is derived from the male name 'Dobra' with the addition of the suffix '-am'. In Ukraine, the name 'Dobrat' has been recorded since 1565 in the entry 'Dobras' (OZKR I 9). Over time, this name has lost its familiar connotation. Since the mid-16th century, patronyms started to be formed from it, such as 'Dobraszowicz' (MIG II 28). In 1583, a surname was recorded in the village of Turterebesh by the name 'Dobrach' (Szabó 528).In addition to Ukrainians, the name 'Dobrat' was also used by Croats (Śim 408), and in the 14th century, it was also used in Poland. For example, in a document from 1302, it mentions: “Voycechoni dieto Oueczka, necnon fratri suo Dobrasio” (SSNO 1/3 486).
