The name "Dobosh" has at least two possible etymological interpretations:1. It may be a truncated-suffix formation with the suffix -osh from the Old Slavic two-root name Dob'islav.2. Among the Slavic peoples who have long coexisted with the Hungarians, under the influence of Hungarian phonetics or by analogy with the Hungarian word "dobos," meaning "drummer," the name underwent changes and is now often transmitted as Dobosh, Dovyt, or Dovbush.Evidence of the existence of this name can be found in historical documents: in 1572, the anthroponym Dobos is mentioned in the village of Korolevo; in 1633, the anthroponym Dobyty is recorded; in 1689, we have Dobyta Demyd. In the Cherkasy region, as early as the mid-17th century, the surname of the Cossack Martyn Dobot is documented. In Polish lands, the name Dobiesz has been recorded since the 12th century.
