The ancient Slavic dual-component name Didomyr (Дѣдомиръ) is still used among the southern Slavs today. In comparison, there is the 12th-century Croatian Čakavian name Djedomir. The first component of the name is the well-known term for kinship "did" (дѣдъ), while the second component is "mir." For example, in 1213, the name Dedemerus was recorded in Northern Hungary.
