The name Negrylash is first mentioned in a charter from the year 1437 in the village of Vaslui: "vѣrapana Nєgrilasha" (SSUM II 34) and in a charter from 1472: "pisa Nєgrilash in Vaslou" (ibid). The Romanian affiliation of the root part of the personal name Negrylash is evidenced, among other things, by contemporary related toponyms from Transcarpathia, which are attested in the living speech of Transcarpathian Ukrainians with the breakthrough form /g/, such as Nehrovо, Nehrovec, as well as the pronunciation of local surnames like Nehra, Nehrich, Nehry, etc. (Chu Surn. 407).
