During the 16th and 17th centuries, written records from Ukrainian lands documented the anthroponyms Dal, Dalko, and Dalkowicz, which are undoubtedly derived from two-part Slavic names such as Daleborъ, Dalestрый, and others. For instance, in 1565, Dmitro Dal is mentioned (OKZR II 201), and in 1608, Hryts Dalko and Fedir Dalko are noted (Balzer 122-123). Additionally, in 1565, the patronymic Dalkowicz is indicated (OK3PI 134), while in 1566, Dalysz is referenced (LBS 272). However, it is important to note that at that time, these names were not used as personal first names.
