Name «Breshko»

The name Breshko is derived from the surname Breiko, which has been used in Transcarpathia since the 16th century and continues to this day. Records show examples such as Bresko Märko mentioned in Tishiv in 1648 (Maksay 535).

The name Breiko is still used in Bulgaria and, according to S. Ilchev, it is a result of the abbreviation of the Slavic name Odetko, which means 'found, acquired'.
