The name "Borysko" is a diminutive form derived from the name Boris. The first written mention of it in Ukraine pertains to the Lviv voivode Borysko Krakul, dated 1334 (source: Krypyak HVK 134). Later, in 1666, the name was borne by Borysko Osypov (source: PK 137). Additionally, in Volhynia, the patronymic toponym Boryskovychy is recorded in 1515 (source: Shulhach 16), and in the Bratslav regiment in 1649, there served a Cossack named Ivan Boryshchenko (source: RVZ 243).
