Name «Borylo»

Throughout the 15th century, the name Borylo became the only name recorded among the peasants of the Galicia and Lviv regions in the -ilo format. The name is derived from the same root as Boryts, which comes from the verb "to struggle," with the addition of the suffix -ilo. This suffix is also used in other names, such as Vorotilo, Horodylo, and Stachilo. Historically, the name Borylo was mainly found in patronymics, for example, Shtefan Borylovych in 1419 in the city of Suceava and Boreiko Iwan in 1611 in the village of Stremtura. The name was once quite popular in Bulgaria. It is also worth noting that there are newer Ukrainian formations with this suffix.
