Name «Neliubets»

The name 'Neliubets' is derived from the base name Neliub. It is recorded among Polish-Latin documents of Ukrainian peasants in Galicia in the 15th century (Szulowska 19). Modern name dictionaries do not list this name; however, anthroponyms such as Neliub-, Ne-lyubets', Neliubych are widely represented in ancient surname titles, where the suffix '-ets' serves a patronymic function rather than a diminutive one.
