Name «Khatsko»

The name "Khatsko" is a northern Ukrainian phonetic variant of the Slavic name "Khotko." This variant is characterized by the lowering of the articulation of the root vowel from /o/ to /a/ and certain pronunciation features. The earliest records of the name "Khatsko" date back to the mid-15th century. For instance, in 1430, documents mention: "we sent a letter to the castle of the Bratslav nobleman Khatsko" in the village of Novoselytsia. In 1577, nobleman Khatsko Chuvatovych, the bailiff of the Volodymyr district, is mentioned. Additionally, in 1620, Khatsko Melnyk is noted in the village of Tyranivka, and Khatsko Haidushyn in the village of Nychpaly. A record from 1649 contains information about the Cossack of the Nizhyn regiment Khadko Tupalsky.
