Name «Davyd»

Davyd is the Ukrainian form of Hebrew דָּוִד (Dāwīḏ), from dōd “beloved” (also “uncle”). It is the name of the biblical king of Israel (10th c. BCE); Greek Δαυίδ transmitted it into Church Slavonic and Ukrainian.
