The name 'Zhadenko' is derived from the suffix '-ko', which in the 17th century still had the ability to express diminutiveness or endearment. For example, in 1608, there are records of Cossacks from Putyvl with the name Zhadenko, such as Zhadenko Kushnerov and Zhadenko Ivanov (Tup 144).
