Name «Kurytsia»

In the vernacular and everyday context, the local name for domesticated poultry is "kurytsia" (hen). The oldest mention of the lexeme "kurytsia" (as "kurka") appears in the records of a Cossack from the Uman Regiment in 1649 — Kurytsia Khomenko (RVZ 214).
